Glossy Brusho Technique

For the last 4 weeks I have been on crutches and not able to do much. On my way to Onstage which was held in Sydney in April, I ruptured my ACL while getting into my seat on the plane. It was an eventful weekend, don’t quite know how I managed to hobble around Sydney on one leg but I did manage to have a great time and also attend our pre booked high tea at QBE with Some of the girls from the team.
I had surgery 10 days ago and my brain wants to do much more than my healing knee will allow. So a couple of days ago I tried brushos on glossy cardstock and was instantly addicted!! I’ve been wanting to try it for quite some time so I’m glad that life slowed me down enough to give it a try.
I used Prussian Blue and Moss Green.
I spritzed the glossy cardstock with water first and then started sprinkling brusho. I then spritzed it again until the colour started to run. Then I picked it up and started moving the colour around until I liked the way it looked and then left it on paper towel to dry.

Once it was dry i wiped it with a static duster cloth (pledge grab it brand which you can buy in the supermarket in Australia) it picks up the tiny specks of brusho and makes sure they don’t end up on your next project by mistake! These cloths are also perfect for glitter and embossing powder. They definitely weren’t made for housework ha ha.
The stamp set that I’ve used on the project is a brand new one coming in the new Annual Catalogue on 1st June, Sea of Textures. It was just perfect for this underwater brusho scene. If you live in Australia you can shop with me here on my blog or you can contact me in person. I’ve included photos of some of the other  brusho backgrounds on glossy paper that I had fun making. I am in the process of making a video tutorial for this card and will upload it as soon as its done.

Until Next Time, Happy Crafting!!!

Inspiration from the cuckoo

Last week I went to the cuckoo restaurant with my partner for tea.
For me it was a trip down memory lane, as each year in high school our German class would go to the cuckoo and I always loved it.
This card was inspired by the cuckoo and all the beautiful colours.  All the chairs had hearts in the back of them and also on the picket fence pailings around the stage, so I made little heart windows on the card.
I did make a video when I made this card but I need to edit it when I'm back home from holidays.
Supplies needed to make this card:

So Saffron
Coastal Cabana
Calypso Coral
Baked Brown Sugar
Whisper White
Designer Series Paper:
Retro Fresh

Itty Bitty Shapes
Full Heart
Framelits:

Occasions Catalogue Blog Hop!!!

Today I’m excited to bring you a blog hop with some of the awesome ladies in the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team.
Today is the first day of the brand new Occasions Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Catalogue in Australia and also the very first day of our biggest promotion of the year, Saleabration! If you place an order with me during Saleabration, you can choose a free item with every $90 you spend in one transaction. There are lots of fabulous free items to choose from (ask me for a brochure and an Occasions Catalogue) and the promotion goes right through until March 31st.
Better still, become part of our awesome fun, friendly and supportive Art With Heart team. We have a really large team Australia wide that has been around since Stampin’ Up! came to Australia. We have a very active team forum and also have in person stamp days, challenges, card swaps, product shares and more.
When you join during Saleabration, you get to choose whatever you like from our catalogues, but pay just $169 for $255 worth of product (that’s a 33% discount!). It’s quick and easy to join online too. Ask me how!
Now let’s get into showing you what you can make with the great new products in the Occasions and Saleabration catalogues. You have come to my blog from Nikki Sadler

My card features Watercolour Wonder Designer Series Paper and So Very Grateful Stamp Set, both from the new Seasonal Catalogue that starts today!!!
I started by stamping on watercolour paper and then colouring with markers and a blender pen, using Tangerine Tango and Pear Pizzazz. Next I used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to punch out my water coloured piece. I stamped the Thank You stamp from So Very Grateful in Tangerine Tango on Very Vanilla Cardstock, and punched a coordinating scallop oval.

And thats where the fun began!! I didn't know whether to use Tangerine Tango ribbon on the tag or Daffodil Delight, so I ended up dying my own ribbon to tie in with the watercolour theme. I used an old plastic lid and sprayed some Very Vanilla Seam binging with water and then added some drops of Daffodil Delight reinker and inked parts of the seam binding.  I then came in with some Tangerine Tango reinker for the rest of the ribbon. I love the result and if it wasn't so late at night I think I would still be dying ribbon in all sorts of colours. (I will get back to that though,  it was so much fun)

Let’s keep this blog hop hopping. Next up we have Kathryn Mangelsdorf

Thanks for visiting today. Don’t forget to email me at email me to get a copy of the Occasions Seasonal Catalogue or Saleabration brochure, or to enquire about joining the Art With Heart team.

Until next time, Happy Stamping!!

Happy Watercolour

I haven't had much of a chance to play with my pre order goodies from the new Occasions Catalogue and also free Sale-a-bration items yet.
The only one I have used is Happy Watercolour Stamp set & Watercolour Wonder Designer Series Paper. The paper is breathtakingly gorgeous, and I plan to make some more creations over the next few days.....
I have been on Annual Leave this whole week, don't know where the week has gone so quickly!
This is the card I made for my sister-in-laws birthday recently:

I used Crisp Cantaloupe Cardstock, the Watercolour Wonder DSP actually has Tangerine Tango in it but I think it would have been too bright. The crisp cantaloupe matches the soft romantic feel of the Designer Series Paper.  I water coloured using an Aqua Painter and ink pads, on Watercolour Paper and used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  To finish it off I added some Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon and the Happy Birthday stamp from Best of Birthdays in Pear Pizzazz.
  • Crisp Cantaloupe Cardstock 131303
  • Watercolour Wonder DSP 132994 (Available from 28th January)
  • Happy Watercolour Stamp Set Wood 133188 Clear 133191 (Available from 28th January)
  • Best Of Birthdays Stamp Set Clear 132929
  • Watercolour Paper 122959
  • Aqua Painters 103954
  • Calypso Coral Stampin' Pad 126983
  • Daffodil Delight Stampin' Pad 126944
  • Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Pad 131290
  • Tag Topper Punch 133324 (Available from 28th January)
  • Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon 125583

Merry Australian Christmas!

I had a custom order for a Christmas Card-in-a-box, and the instructions were that it had to be Australian and that it had to have a warm sun. Hmmmm, didn't know where to start with this one, but once I worked out the Australian part it all started coming together nicely.
I put the punch art kangaroo at the front as it looks like he is pulling Santas sleigh. I used Santa's List Stamp set, stamped in Sahara Sand and then water coloured his skin in Blushing Bride and his suit in Cherry Cobbler.  The sun was made from a scallop circle punch, punch once, then you turn it so it punches again in the middle of the scallop, giving that sun burst look.  There are tiny hand cut presents from Best of Birthdays, in the sleigh with Santa. Some leaves from the bird punch, similar to gum leaves and the card was complete.  This was made for a friend's daughter who will be overseas for Christmas this year and she loved it, so I am happy.

Happy 18th Birthday

I had a very busy week last week with my daughter turning 18 and a family party to organise for her. She didn't want a big party so it was just immediate family and my best friend, who I consider to be family as well. I made 2 huge woks of fried rice, mexican mince and cauliflower cheese. Mum made apricot chicken and we also had garlic bread. For dessert we had mud cake, toblerone cheesecake and a cream sponge cake.
I made her a card in a box, with 18 hand cut paper candles and paper from birthday basics and Cycle Celebrations stamp set. I gave her money for her trip to Paris in January and wrapped up a box with Monopoly money in it (her real money went straight into her bank account. I was very fortunate that I had arranged Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday as annual leave so had plenty of time to get organised.

Card in a box

Tonight I had to make a quick Thank You card after work and wanted to try this card in a box design that I learnt at our recent Team Fundraising Day.
I absolutely love the Eastern Elegance paper, the owl's outfit punched out a really lovely pattern.
I used my favourite sentiment stamp set, Perfectly Penned, it is such a gorgeous classic design.

Envelope Punch Board - Christmas Bon Bon

Today I attended our Team FUNdraising day with about 30 other talented demonstrators. There were 5 demonstrations where we learnt about MDS (My Digital Studio), Brayer Techniques, Envelope Punch Board, Stamping on Candles and an amazing Pop Up Box card.
We got the chance to make a couple of cards, as well as socialising, yummy food, and prizes as well. We raised over $1,000 dollars for Ronald McDonald House Charities, which was a great achievement.
I demonstrated the Christmas Bon Bon that I designed using the envelope punch board and I've made a video showing how I made the Bon Bon.
Make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel stampwithali so you can be notified when I post new videos.
